Called to the Brisbane Domestic airport to deliver the latest OzCabbie magazines to the main distribution point, the Kerbside Cafe, but was told that Brisbane Airport Corporation has told the cafe that OzCabbie magazine was not to be made available by them.
OzCabbie, as many readers will know, has always been a big supporter of the Cab Drivers' Association of Queensland and gave a big plug to the petitions last issue, particularly the E-Petitions and how to locate and sign them.
I now suspect that the last issue was seized by Taxi Council Rank Supervisors and dumped. We are talking boxes, as in hundreds of magazines. I wondered why some drivers said they did not see the magazine at the cafe. I thought that they ran out.
I was hoping that our E-Petitions would gain momentum when the magazine was circulated. This goes a long way to explaining why the numbers on the web site hardly moved.
Congratulations Taxi Council of Queensland. Your desperate measure to stop the Petition had an effect. Unfortunately it only makes the numbers we gathered more convincing.
Stopping people from collecting signatures does not negate the reasons for the petitions and the numbers must now be regarded as only a sample of the true endorsement by industry stakeholders.
Good luck holding back the tide.
